Books aren’t Boring
(if you are reading the right ones)
Growing up, all of my sisters were bookworms. While they buried their faces in books, I spent my time watching movies and reading magazines. I never understood their fascination and ability to have such laser focus on something that seemed so boring to me. Then it happened, I read a book that I actually enjoyed. Then, reading took on a whole new meaning. It went from a nuance to enrichment.
Spring Break Reads FTW
Instead of a break at the beach filled with boos and bikinis, I use this time to fuel my mind and give my body a rest. So, this spring break, I am headed to the peaceful mountains with a bag full of boots and books. The list I put together are books I have already read and fully intend on re-reading until they’re branded in my mind like my favorite childhood Britney Spears songs.
Capture Your Style By Aimee Song
Uh, duh. This book is full of inspiration and basically gives you a step by step guide for putting together a beautiful and authentic Instagram feed. I have learned so many things from Aimee Song through this book and her inspiration as a blogger has been lifted to a whole new level. She has a completely different take on the blogging world and it will open up your mind in the best way possible.
Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
Nicholas Sparks… Need I say more? This is a good book for the days you want to escape reality for a little while and just get lost in a good story. Be prepared to cry, it’s a tear jerker. Did you expect any different? Probably not. I ended up watching the movie with my dad and he even agreed it was a good story lol.
Girl Boss and Nasty Galaxy
Like many women, I am completely and utterly inspired daily by Sophia Amoruso and her company NastyGal. (although, now it has been sold to Boohoo). Not only is her story (shared in GirlBoss) inspirational but her brand is so unique it gives the fashion world a whole new opportunity for self expression. Her book Girl Boss was the first autobiography style book I have ever read and it stuck with me ever since. It is a relatable story that motivated me to dedicate every precious moment of my time building my brand and my blog. To do any different would let Amoruso down, and I don’t want to do that.
NastyGalaxy is an awesome coffee table book and a fun read. It’s a book filled with beautiful images of Amoruso’s home and some tidbits about life and interviews with fellow Girlbosses like Gweneth Paltrow. She shares inspirational albums, books and everything under the sun to get you viewing the world differently.
A few more on my to-read list:
What are you planning on doing this spring break?
