Living in a world that has become so fast-paced and busy, sometimes it feels like we are living life in the fast lane. Our mind and bodies cannot always keep up until we have had our daily dose of caffeine. While most people live by the motto, “but first coffee,” our bodies seem to need this extra boost just to keep up with the hectic environment around us.
Instead of reaching for that morning roast every day, try an alternative like this Matcha Energy and Protein Smoothie. I promise it delivers the same caffeine punch as coffee but gives your body a focused-and-alert type of energy with many health benefits.
One of my favorite reasons to drink matcha, other than the delicious flavor and mind-awakening caffeine; it actually helps burn fat by boosting the metabolism and burning calories. Score! The focus and mood boost we receive from matcha is provided by the natural aminos which are essential to our body.
Matcha is rich in antioxidants helping regulate free radicals and fight cancer and disease. The chlorophyll in matcha helps detoxify and cleanse the body of toxic metals, like mercury from fish.
Lastly, it can help lower cholesterol and blood sugar while providing many vitamins including Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Fiber, Magnesium, Zinc and Potassium.
According to Matcha Source,”Antioxidants are the body’s defense agents. They are chemical compounds that prevent aging and chronic diseases. Put simply, the more you have, the better equipped your body is in the fight against infections and disease.”
It is a nourishing awakening for the body and mind.

Finally ready for the recipe?

I found this recipe from Jessica Alba’s interview in Shape Magazine.
I remember the days when all my family birthday dinners took place at a hibachi restaurant where I would expect 3 things to be perfect: the onion volcano, the chicken fried rice and the green tea ice cream! This is my modern-day healthified version of the green tea ice cream and it definitely gets the job done.
