Last week I decided to try the Suja Juice 1-day-renwel where I drank three of their juices throughout the day, accompanied with small meals per recipes they recommended. I wanted to provide my experience because I know there are so many different types of cleanses and systems out there that it can be overwhelming. So this is my genuine, free opinion on the renewal by Suja.
I first heard of Suja juice when I attended an event called Create+Cultivate in Dallas, which was absolutely amazing I must say. The co-creator of Suja, Annie Lawless was one of the speakers and it was awesome to hear her story and see that she is a real person because sometimes we forget that! They had her juices at the event but I didn’t end up snagging one and when I came back to reality, here in Fayetteville Arkansas, I did some research. The juices are more popular than I thought and I found these at Walmart! I couldn’t believe it… I was stoked.
Anyways, once I brought these bad boys home I wanted to be completely prepared for my “renew” day, so I made sure I had the tailored recipes picked out and ready to prepare. In doing so, I chose the oatmeal for breakfast, the white kidney bean lettuce cups for lunch ( which I just realized was supposed to be the third meal…oops), and the kale salad for dinner.
In the morning, I was excited to have a meal plan for the day… one that seemed fairly easy for me. When I woke up I immediately drank the Daybreak Probiotic juice which was pretty spicy in my opinion. It threw me off because I am not use to cayenne in my breakfast! Who is? But there was a nice compliment of maple that made the drink go down easy. This juice reminds me of the cleanse that Beyonce did for Dream Girls, do y’all remember that crazy cleanse where she just drank a mixture of lemon, water, maple and cayenne pepper? I do, because I tried it… lol
After my first juice, I waited about an hour and had my breakfast which was the raw overnight oats with cinnamon and blueberries. This was easy because I use to eat overnight oats every morning when I was commuting to school a couple summers ago.
Later, that day I had some green tea and when I felt hungry I had the green juice which helped hold me over for only a little bit! I waited a couple hours because I didn’t have a chance to get home and eat right away so I was starving by the time I had my second meal, which is my fault. I ate the kidney bean lettuce wraps with guacamole and they were delicious but I wasn’t quite satisfied. I was determined to stick to the renew plan however, and went about my day. I will say though that the guacamole took a little time to make because you have to cut the tomatoes, avocado and measure all the seasonings.
I couldn’t wait to try the twilight protein juice since I was craving something sweet and I would say it hit the spot. Then came dinner, my kale salad which was surprising pleasant but I was still so hungry! I calculated my calories for that day and they ended up hitting 638 calories. That’s not a lot at all as you can understand for my feeling of starvation.
I ended up caving at the end of the night and had a protein shake because I hate going to bed hungry. Then I just wake up hangry, ya know? Im already not a morning person so it would just make it worse.
Anyways, I have to say though I am still glad that I did this 1-day-renew because it truly made my body feel better. In the future I may try this again and would probably make the portion sizes a little larger for the meals which would help hold me over for longer periods. For me it was a feeling of accomplishment that I was able to stick to this all day. It can help you train your mind to choose what’s right and healthy instead of simply what you want and what’s easiest. I think anyone who needs a fresh start in their diet should give this a try because it changes the way you feel about what you put in your body.
I hope this was helpful to anyone considering the Suja Juice Renew Plan! I personally think it is worth it and honestly want to try it again.
